About Smart Society Conference

The 3rd Southeast Europe Smart Society Conference is organized by the ICT Innovation Network (with the support of the ICT Association of Slovenia at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry), the Association of Municipalities of Slovenia and the Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Digital Transformation.

Open urban digital platforms, which enable the integration of vertical solutions, play a key role in the digital transformation of cities, thus creating the conditions for the accelerated development of the data economy and raising the quality of life in urban environments.
When introducing urban digital platforms, it is important to consider technical solutions, standards and protocols. Above all, there is a need for a shift in the strategy of smart city development, where the emphasis shifts from financing siloed, unconnected, solutions to a sustainable vision of solving a multitude of separate challenges by placing them in the context of open digital platforms.
The strategy of introducing urban digital platforms requires partnership at all levels, from public and state administration, companies, knowledge institutions, research organizations, non-governmental organizations to local self-government and individuals, ie the whole society.

The topic of the conference are open urban digital platforms as a key factor in the development of the digital economy and the quality of living in smart cities. Representatives of key stakeholders will present their vision of the role of urban digital platforms in urban development, and at the round table they will confront their views regarding strategies of smart city development in Slovenia and Europe. The second part of the conference will showcase good practices in the introduction of open urban digital platforms and, above all, the impact of the introduction on the quality of life, the development of the economy and society.
The conference is intended for representatives of Slovenian and regional local communities, development agencies, organizations dealing with solutions and services for smart cities and communities, state administrations and all partners involved in the development of smart cities and communities.
